FLBOA Monthly Meeting
The February FLBOA monthly meeting will be held on Feb 8th at the Emergency Management Center located in Lyons NY (see bottom of notice for directions). The meeting will discuss the creation of the FLBOA Disaster Response Committee and our responsibilities during an emergency call out situation. Our guest speaker will be George Bastedo, the Director of the Office of Disaster Preparedness for Wayne County. George has two general topics to bring to our attention.

1. The fact that we (the Office of Disaster Preparadness) exist and are a resource to be utilized in a disaster (and the fact that we would be relying on Code Enforcement for damage estimate assistance)

2. We are in the beginning stages of updating the county's Hazard Mitigation Plan, and will be looking for information about local hazards that they have encountered that we should include, as well as volunteers to sit on the planning committee.

The meeting will begin at 12:00 noon to allow for extra travel time. We will also have Dick Thomson on hand to discuss some of the items noted during our emergency call outs of the past summer. RSVP to Bob Prince at 585-392-9449 or bptp@parmany.org. by Feb 6th. Lunch will be provided after the meeting.

Directions: The County Complex West Entrance is the first road east of Nye Road. They should turn into County Complex West Entrance. Take the road straight back - the Public Safety Building is directly in front. They should park in the front parking lot (there is a flag pole).

Heat Ducts in Outside Walls for Res-Check Compliance
"Bob Prince posed the question of ducts in outside walls to us again, so accordingly, we revisited the question. We posed the question to USDOE, the authors of RESCheck. Their opinion is that unless the ducts are located completely to the interior side of exterior wall construction, meaning to the inside face of the interior gypsum board layer (air barrier), the duct would be treated as outside of conditioned space, and subject to duct blaster testing, as required by ECCCNYS-1020." ~ Joseph Hill, RA Assistant Director for Energy Services New York State Department of State Codes Division
