Codes inspection law for rentals tabled, by Reporter Shawn Anderson The New York State Assembly and Senate have recently introduced a legislative bill requiring the licensing of those engaged in the business of layout, installing, servicing, repairing, inspecting, testing, and maintenance of water based fire protection systems. The proposed legislation, which is sponsored by Assemblywoman Susan John of Rochester (in a collaborative effort with OFPC and NFSA), would have the NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control oversee the program. This new addition to NYS Executive Law outlines items such as, qualifications of license recipients, required insurance coverages for contractors and the testing requirements of prospective candidates. One of the sections also would require that the contractors submit a copy of their licenses prior to the issuance of a building permit by the local AHJ. The Assembly Bill is numbered A06526 and the Senate Bill is S3190. View the full text version of the bill. Submitted by Christopher J. Dunn, OHST Home | About Us | Members | Calendar | Code
