James R. Sebaste Education Award
James R. Sebaste was a long time Code Enforcement Official for the Town of Rush. However, that was his second career, retiring as a professional educator before becoming a code official. Jim was an active member of the Finger Lakes Building Officials Association and served the Association as its only educator, mentoring the development of the annual Educational Conference. Jim also served the Association for many years as a Director. Jim was presented with the Associations highest honor, the Merit Award in 1988.
The James R. Sebaste Education Award is established for college students engaged in the study of architecture, professional engineering, a related building, safety or fire prevention discipline, or, a graduate of a high school enrolled in a building trade school or a graduate of a high school engaged in taking individual classes or approved conferences related to code enforcement, building construction, building maintenance, safety or fire prevention.
G. James Schrader Education Award
G. James (Jim) Schrader was the Code Enforcement Official for the Town of Perinton for many years and was one of the founding members of the Finger Lakes Building Officials Association. For over 25 years, Jim served the Association first as President, then as an active member of the Education Committee. Jim was also for many years the Secretary of the New York State Building Officials Conference, of which FLBOA is a chapter member.
