Topic 1 = Code Enforcement and Administration, Topic 2 = Uniform Fire Prevention And Building Code, Topic 3 = Energy Conservation Construction Code

Code Enforcement Officials (CEOs) are required to complete twenty-four hours of In-Service training annually, and may take the same training courses in consecutive years. The training requirements are as follows:Code Enforcement Officials (CEOs) are required to complete twenty-four hours of In-Service training annually, and may take the same training courses in consecutive years. The training requirements are as follows:• At least twelve hours must be approved training as follows:o At least three hours in Topic 1, Code Enforcement and Administration.o At least three hours in Topic 2, Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code.o At least three hours in Topic 3, Energy Conservation Construction Code.o At least three additional hours in Topics 1, 2, or 3, or any combination thereof.• The remaining twelve hours can be approved training in Topics 1, 2, or 3, Professional Development Electives (PDEs), or any combination thereof.   

Building Safety Inspectors (BSIs) are required to complete six hours of In-Service training annually, and may take the same training courses in consecutive years. NYS Building Standards and Codes is offering Twenty-four hours of In-Service training is available via live webinars.  Eight hours are available in Topic 1, ten hours in Topic 2, and six in Topic 3.  
The class size for each offerings is limited to 2,500 attendees.

To register:

  1. Open the above document link, click the registration link for the course offering that you wish to attend, and enter the required information.
  2. You must enter your Code Enforcement ID when registering to receive In-Service credit.
  3. An email verifying your registration will be sent to you. This email will contain the link for accessing the webinar.  Check your Junk Email if you do not receive the email verification.

To receive In-Service credit:

  1. You must login to receive credit. The login link is found in the email that was sent to you following your registration.
  2. You must login no later than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time of the course.
  3. You must not log out until the course ends.
  4. Attendees must participate in the webinar using a computer or tablet. Call-in participants will not receive In-Service credit as there is no way for WebEx to track Code Enforcement IDs through the phone.

Please allow at least three weeks for the above NYS DOS BSCD webinar trainings to show up in your SLMS training history.
